OPERATION: RESOUNDING FORCE
Foundation for Airsoft Scenarios

COUNTRY PROFILE: LIBERIA
On September 19th, 2003 the United Nations passed resolution 1509 placing an international peacekeeping force of 15,000 in the country of Liberia; majority of the force composed of American soldiers that helped to maintain a ceasefire between Liberia’s two dominate ethnic groups, the Hutus and the Tutsis. The civil war has been a bloody one lasting for decades, the most devastating period lasting from 1989 to 1996: leading to an estimated death toll of over 500,000, meanwhile plunging the country into facing widespread disease, and famine. Unfortunately General Mobu Awaale has disrupted this ceasefire by launching comprehensive attacks against the Hutus. This breach in the agreement has turned a once peaceful and stable Liberia into a war torn country that threatens to destabilize the entire region.

“Eagle Shield”
Increasing ethnic tension and rivalry has spilled throughout the nation and most prevalent in Liberia’s capital Yepeka. General Awaale as of this morning has killed President Mazzum Hassan and the entire presidential family. Violence and fighting continues to increase throughout the streets of Liberia threatening the US personnel posted at the American Embassy in Yepeka. US Ambassador Donald E. Booth has finally declared a complete evacuation of the embassy compound. A task force US Marines as part of the international peacekeeping force has been ordered to provide security for extraction of all US staff & personnel.

“Eagle Storm”
A Blackhawk part of the extraction force has been shot down by General Awaale’s militia south of the American embassy in Yepeka. US Marines originally sent to secure the evacuation also needed to protect the crash site. A heavy firefight ensued, but US Marines stretched thin were overrun by the rebels. The rebels have overtaken the embassy compound and are now holding Donald E. Booth, and injured Marines hostage. A group of special operators have been assembled off the coast of Africa composed of SEALs, Marine Force Recon, and Delta Force to attempt rescue of the hostages.

“White Rabbit”
A defector of General Awaale’s militia has volunteered valuable intel critical on the location of Mr. Awaale and top Tutsi officials. A small reconnaissance group must first be sent in to verify the target location prior to the launch of the main assaulting group. Your objective is to secure and detain General Awaale for extradition o the International Criminal Court.

“Dante’s Inferno”
One of Liberia’s leading exports is oil. Due to the ecological and economic harms from the destruction of Liberia’s oil fields, US forces must first secure these sites before General Awaale can compromise these facilities.

“Rolling Thunder”
Leaders from both rival clans, Hutus and Tutsis have agreed to meet with UN diplomats to arrange a ceasefire. General Awaale has targeted a United Nation’s convoy of vehicles to disrupt the peace process.

“Cut Off”
U.S. intelligence has linked Al Qaeda to General Awaale’s militia. Weapons dealer Mohammed Ahmed Salad has provided the militia with small arms and explosives used in previous attacks. It is crucial both to Liberia’s peace process to isolate Mr. Awaale’s resources, and vital to the War on Terrorism that Mr. Salad is detained for further interrogation.

“Desperate Respite”
The World Food Organization and international community have responded with large shipments of food and supplies hoping to combat increasing malnutrition and widespread famine. General Awaale has seized multiple food shipments that have starved the Hutu population. It is crucial that these food shipments reach the intended designations. International forces must prevent the Tutsi rebels from seizing these key resources.

“Sudden Reprise”
UN peacekeeping forces on routine patrols throughout Yepeka have come under sudden attack by rebels loyal to General Awaale. The peacekeepers have taken heavy causalities and require immediate assistance. US task force must rally point to re-enforce the UN peacekeepers and provide any medical assistance.

“Fire Storm”
The United Nations compound housing the international peacekeeping force has come under a mortar attack. Majority of the compound personnel remain vulnerable due to the lack of cover, already two have been killed by the initial attack, while several remain critically wounded. A quickly assembled reaction force must locate and set demolitions at rebel mortar emplacements.

“Phoenix Rising”
Liberia’s ethnic fighting has caused massive repercussions, while General Awaale has become more aggressive and desperate; combining these events with the fact that Liberia’s single nuclear reactor 60 miles northwest of Yepeka creates the potential for an extremely volatile situation. The Bush administration has found it paramount to the national security of the United States to prevent the proliferation of WMD. It is therefore vital that General Awaale does not obtain the means to possess low-yield fissile materials necessary to build a dirty bomb that can devastate the African region or fall in the hands of terrorists.

END NOTES: Any comments, and suggestions, I was rushed in writing this, trying to get it finialized by January for a skirmish, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I need a timeline, whether mission sucess or failure will determine the next op. I took information from CIA World Fact Book, and U.S. State Department, combined basically the Congo and Liberia together, to make a fake but realistic situation. Now I need to adapt these scenarios into airsoft games, I need concrete objectives for both American / International Peacekeepers, and also for the rebels loyal to Mr. Awaale. -WTADelta@airsoftforum.com

try to formulate scenarios using these examples. good clean fun. more power to BAG[i]
