PostSubject: Callsign Etymology   Callsign Etymology - Page 2 EmptyThu Aug 16, 2007 11:18 am

First topic message reminder :

The origin or history of your callsigns. Post em here!

TooTsY
- was the name of my crush (IRL)
- modified it to become 2-TSY, my 2-meter(VHF) callsign... short for DY-2-TSY
- the [2] in 2-TSY was a regional prefix, indicating origins in the NorLu area
- been using that ever since.. (lame, huh?) Laughing

So how'd you come up with your callsign? Wink

been a Dungeons and Dragons player way back and love fantasy books based on this too.. (Tolkien's works).. and some other authors... Wink

Nah, I didn't play D&D. I was about to, but I got busy with work. Ang nilaro ko eh yung RPG (storytelling a lie). In that game, I was a half-elf adopted by a ranger who trained me. If memory serves me right, my name was Sylvan.

Mahilig akong mag-imagine ng mga ganyan.
Kunyari isa akong magaling na warrior........ na-realize ko hanggang imagination lang pala yun nung naglaro na ako ng airsoft lol!

Reality isn't as exciting as what u can imagine. And fantasy is all about the good vs. the bad. Medyo idealistic din kase ako. I love the idea of honor, integrity, quiet dignity and grace.

I didn't know there were other fantasy buffs besides me and Zephyr. cheers

Zuljin - Pronounced as zool-jin
Waaay back when I was still playing the original Warcraft on Windows 3.1, I was drawn to the orc character named Zuljin who keeps saying "hag zag" ...in the orc language, that means "I'm kool". He was armed with a tomahawk and he had a mohawk. It was the punk era that time and I played guitar for a punk band and my alias was " Rik Vicious" I also sported a mohawk by the way.
To the LOTR, Silmarillon, Belgariad fans out there ......
........"Nahan ish veshtu!"

SLY has been my name ever since. according to Mr. Webster, SLY means "cleverly skillful and cunning" or "lacking honesty or straightforwardness" or "full of playful mischief".

please don't be alarmed. i am NONE OF THE ABOVE.

the animal FOX is described by animal behavioral scientists as SLY. wala na kasi akong maisip na call sign kaya SLY FOX na lang.

once more: please don't be alarmed. i am NONE OF THE ABOVE. as shakespeare wrote: "what's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Smile

My mother use to call me "Ming Fe"............
